About Ichthus Christian Fellowship
Ichthus Christian fellowship was founded in 1974 under the leadership of Roger and Faith Forster. We began with the mandate from God to evangelise London and the nations by planting churches of Christ-exalting, Bible-loving believers committed to the Lord Jesus, to His mission and to one another.
Ichthus has been planting churches in London for over 40 years. We are at present working in 8 London boroughs as well as serving the wider church through annual Conferences, sending out Overseas missionaries and partnering with Link churches in the UK and Europe.
-To carry out the financial administration of Ichthus Christian Fellowship and associated projects, ensuring the proper stewardship of funds given to the fellowship and of expenses incurred by the fellowship.
-To liaise with and work to the trustees and leadership group in relation to all financial matters.
-To carry out the on-site and hands-on financial administration of Ichthus’ annual, week long, summer conference ‘Revive!’.
Essential Job Functions
1. Finance Management
-Prompt banking of all monies received at the office.
-Regular reconciliation of bank and cash data to QuickBooks.
-Regular reconciliation of payroll and other control accounts.
-Reviewing all cheque requests to ensure they have been properly made and that appropriate documentation is attached.
-Issuing cheques and online banking payments as required.
-Maintenance of all donor records, including drafting of thank you letters.
-Ensuring that Gift Aid tax refunds are claimed every month.
-Filing of all records to ensure information can be readily accessed.
-Liaising with other departments (e.g. Media, Conferences) regarding payments coming in through third party payment processors (e.g. SagePay, GoCardless, Stripe, Barclaycard)
-Answering queries relating to the financial transactions set out above.
-Reviewing all data entered to Quickbooks to ensure consistency of approach, simplicity of recording and ease of interrogation of the data.
-Monitoring all standing orders and direct debits to check for any anomalies, and ensuring the timely payment of all bills including Inland Revenue, Pensions, Insurers and payroll.
-Managing insurance, supplier accounts, other regular commitments and associated tasks.
-Providing financial reports on a monthly basis, and on request, to the trustees, the CongregationLeaders, and department leaders, and responding to their queries.
2. Ancillary Duties
-Attending office prayer meetings and playing an active part in the spiritual and practical life of the Ichthus office.
-Answering phones as needed.
-Dealing with post in and out as needed.
-Ability to deal with phone calls and other enquiries in a professional and courteous manner.
-Enthusiasm, an attention to detail and a desire for excellence.
Skills & Qualifications
-Proven financial administration skills, through qualification or significant experience at an appropriate level.
-Experience working with accounting software (e.g. QuickBooks)
-Advanced Excel and general MS Office skills
-Good management, administration and budgeting skills
-Good people skills and in particular an ability to work well in a team.
-Holder of qualifications such as: CIPFA, ACCA, ACA, CIMA, ICAEW
-Work experience in a NFPO
The Finance Officer will report directly to the Office Manager, and also be indirectly accountable to the Chair of the Finance Committee.
