Amos means 'burden carrier' and, though he was from Judah, bore the burden of prophesying to the northern kingdom. Amos is quite a 'prophet of doom', with eight and a half of the nine chapters all about judgment. However, the last half chapter is a wonderful vision of hope that anticipates the church age and is quoted by James in Acts 15. (74 mins)
