Jesus said “You are the light of the world, a city set on a hill cannot be hidden.”

We are back for one final weekend this year! On September 8-10th we will be piling down to Chislehurst to shine our lights for the sake of our King, Jesus. It will be just like our spring City on a Hill missions with all kinds of evangelism, from church on the streets to evangelistic quiz nights! Check out the programme below and come and join us for the best type of fellowship – being on mission together!
What is City On A Hill Mission?
Whilst praying and fasting during some of 2021 lockdowns, we received a number of prophetic words for Ichthus as a movement about sending out small evangelistic teams to different places to spread the good news of Jesus and to be a blessing to local communities. Since April 2022, we have been doing that in the form of City on a Hill Mission.
City on a Hill Mission is an intensive weekend of evangelism and training across the various Ichthus congregational communities, with the aim of seeing the name of Jesus proclaimed and seeing His body built up in this vital task.
2023 Report
City on a Hill 2023 was a huge encouragement as we saw God stirring up, equipping and going before His people in the work of evangelism! This year Mitcham, Forest Hill, Lee Green, Belvedere, Sittingbourne, Crouch End and Islington all organised a weekend’s worth of outreach of all kinds; from fundays on local estates to Latin music nights in their church buildings. A favourite of many was the Curry-oke night (Curry and Karaoke). These creative events functioned as ways of blessing our communities and creating platforms for those who do not know Jesus to get familiar with being inside a church building, hearing stories of how the Lord has changed lives and coming into contact with His gospel message. These were all done alongside our more traditional ways of doing evangelism like Church on the Street and door knocking.
One of the huge encouragements was how congregation members rallied during their weekends, sacrificing time, energy and resources in order to make Jesus known in their areas. And even more so, how members from other congregations travelled across London to serve with their brothers and sisters on different patches – how beautiful it is when God’s people work together in unity! One particularly beautiful story was of a young lady who came to the Lord last year at City on a Hill, and this year was serving at her congregations weekend.
The main reason for all this hard work (and fun!) is that people may find salvation in Jesus, welcomed into God’s family, and begin taking hold of the eternal life to which they were called. And we were not disappointed. Every weekend the guest Sunday gatherings received visitors and many people responded to the gospel which was preached, either for the first time or as a recommitment. Many of whom are now plugged into their local Ichthus congregations or Alpha course. Praise God!
We look forward to Summer Project in July, and a special City on a Hill at Chislehurst in September.
